Why won't my HEIC open?
Apple switched to HEIC (High Efficiency Image Format) with iOS 11 because it stores photos at roughly half the file size of a JPG with no visible loss in quality. The problem is that HEIC support outside the Apple ecosystem is patchy:
- Windows can't open HEIC without a codec from the Microsoft Store.
- WordPress and many CMS tools reject HEIC uploads.
- Email and web forms often require JPG, PNG, or PDF.
